Melodies of Tradition

If I were to describe the significance of the Kannawidan Festival, I would base it on the song that is always played all around Vigan. The lyrics of the song really stand out to me and convey the true meaning of what is being celebrated during the festival. In this blog, I will share the messages I have gained from certain lyrics of the song.

One of the lyrics that stands out to me is: "In the part of our culture and tradition we treasure, where the past and the future collide." This lyric highlights how the festival brings together the richness of our past and the hopes for our future. It’s a reminder that celebrating our traditions is not just about looking back, but also about shaping the future with the lessons we’ve learned.

Another powerful part of the song is the proud declaration: "Intayon, Ilocos Sur!" These words reflect the unity and pride of the people of Ilocos Sur. It’s a call for everyone to come together and celebrate the culture, heritage, and spirit of the region, showing the deep sense of belonging that binds the community.

To sum it up, I referred to the song that plays throughout the streets of Vigan to describe the significance of the Kannawidan Festival because it truly captures the essence of the celebration. It’s not just background music because if you listen closely to its lyrics, you can interpret its message, and that is the true significance of celebrating the Kannawidan Festival.
